Default help please with 3rd gear

once in a while usually when i first turn on the car in the mornings, and i start going down the road and i go to 3rd gear, it grinds and it scares me. but after a couple minutes after stoping and going it wont do it no more. could it be my master cylinder, ive heard about the "drill mod" but i dont know how that works can anybody explain. please

Likely hydraulic's causing it. Hows the fluid look? Is it all original parts?

**** i get the same problem. When i first drive my car in the morning or it has sat over night if i throw 3rd gear to quick it will grind. To combat it while my car warms up for about a minute i hol din the clutch and run 1st-4th like 2 or 3 times and when i drive the first time i go to engage 3rd i do it slow. After that she runs fine. But i to have been wondering whats going on that it will do that. And i also have all the stock hydraulics. I am guessing maybe its Slave cylinder, since its a 2000 and i know 01-02 got the better slave cylinder.

Usually a cold fluid problem says master though, but all OE stuff might as well do it right the first time.
