Default Spec clutch question

i have a spec stage 3 clutch with an aluminum flywheel in my 2000 z28....it probably has about 4k-5k on it....ever since i put it in...when i go to take off from a dead stop, everything shudders until i get the clutch all the way engaged... it doesnt really do it if i do a super low rpm takeoff but it does it from like the 1000 to 2200 rpm range takeoffs....not sure why its doing it...everyone told me that when it broke in it would go away but it hasnt...is this normal for a spec clutch?? any input or feedback would be greatly appreciated...
Thanks
Cody

Cody, the problem may lie in the aluminum flywheel, as it does not contain the inertial to slip the clutch past the gripping point of impact. Normally Spec clutches are pretty good once a 500 mile break in is achieved. Have you ever tried a couple high rpm launches? Sometimes that takes care of the shuddering, believe it or not. Bob

I have chatter as well. It comes and goes, and they've been known to talk to you for the life of the clutch as said above. Especially the 3's.

As stated above, I would be looking at the aluminum flywheel. Bringing the revs up before engaging the clutch will help.

I have stage II clutch with a resurfaced flywheel. It chatters my teeth out sometimes, especially when I try to engage the cluthc in traffic. Kind of dissapointed with the cluthci n that matter, but it grips beautifully.

i had a serious chatter problem when i got my car and it had a stock clutch and still does. but i had nothing left at the pilot bearing and it ate my inputshaft bearing. it chattered soo bad. replaced all the bearings in the tranny and new pilot bearing and waa laa. no chatter. just an FYI
