could it be the hydrolics ? I have posted on here about my car not wanting ot shift into each gear smoothly like it should . My car take s little bit of muscle to get into every gear it does this even when it is off and when you have it in neutral and shake it side to sid eit stays where you leave it meaning if you push it to the right it will stay there and NOt spring back to the middle like it is suppose to. also if i go 1ts 2nd 1st 2nd back and forth a few times it kind of gets a tiny bit easier. my question is could it be the hydros ?>
You have more than one thing going on I think. The side to side problem is either shifter or internal linkage binding. The high effort shift( fore/aft) may be partially but not all due to the shifter.
well i took the shifter out and held it in my hand and it moved freely and went side so side nicely and even went back to the middle. i stuck a big chisle down where the shifter ball connects to that rod and it felt hard just as if the shifter was on there.?
any advice would be great.

I have a similar issue. My shifter is stiff as hell in all gears, even side to side. Everything is new, clutch, tranny, hydraulics. I had no issues at all the first couple drives in it, about 20 miles. Went to drive it the other day and after backing out of the garage and went to put it in first, it was like the shifter was binding, just stiff in all directions. Back in the garage it went. Later when I had time, I started the car back up, put it in reverse and backed up a couple feet, pulled it out of reverse and it's normal again, weird. I can repeat the problem to by going in reverse again. I'm pretty sure it is hydraulic related as the pedal feels different now and sometimes has no pedal pressure for the first half of the travel and now also sticks half way up on the pedal return. Theoretically, it doesn't make any sense to me about the stiff shifter but I'm going to work on the hydraulics and see what's up.
