Default Skip Shift

Is there any way to get rid of it? It's getting really annoying while driving around in the city.

yes, there are many ways to get rid of the skip shift. you can simply put a resistor in-line that will get rid of it or they make a module that will also turn off the light they run about 20 bucks.

Go to Radioshack and buy the 2.2K Ω (2200 Ω ), 1/2 watt resistor* ($.99)

Here is a link to show you how to install it:

Very very very easy to do.

Peace,
Craig.

I doubt that it will help with your mpg, as a matter of fact, since I disabled mine, I notice that I am shifting at a better rpm than when the CAGS worked.

I find quite often I am shifting from 1 - 2 when the CAGS light is on.

I'd look into other areas to improve your mpg, plugs, air filter, tire pressure, and O2 sensors.

you can buy the resistor or go to slp and buy the plug n play module. This costs $25

If I remember correctly you need to use a 2.2 ohm resisotor across the line going to the tranny. this simulates the the coil resistance of the soleniod that engages when the skip shift is activated. This then lies to the computer and you do not get a check engine light. the other option that I like and use all the time is for street driving just go from first to third. This is not so much of a step that the rpm does not fall so far and the car seems to like it fine. best of luck
