Default Help....Clutch install

OK, I am installing a clutch in an 02 z28. I got it out fine came apart rather easy. Now that I have started to put things back together the transmission will not seat all the bolts are lined up and have been started. Can I just tighten them from side to side. Just checking cause I dont want to strip out one of the bolts.

make sure the tranny imput shaft it level so it goes into the pilot bearing and then it will go all but like a half inch which is just the spring pushing against you, if you really push it will go and then slide back out if that is what it is, normally i will just start all the bolts and let them pull the tranny in

That sounds like whats happening. It went all the way in but for about a half inch like you said. Guess I will just tighten and hope tht they dont strip.
