I bought a used Pro 5.0 shifter, but it did NOT come with the mounting bolts. Do I need to have certain ones, or will the ones of my stock shifter work? Also, how do I know where to adjust the shift stops? Thanks.

I believe the stock bolts will work...

To adjust the plates put the car into first gear and screw the front bolt until its touching the bar, then back it off one whole turn then tighten it down good, I would suggest using some lock tight for them...do the same for the back one, put it in 2nd...etc, etc, etc....

Also put some locktite on the 2 bolts that hold the actual shifter arm, they tend to shake loose... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

Hope this helps...

i did mine in 3rd and 4th that is where they hit the bolts the most. i had someone else thighten the bolts on the screws. as to where to set them i put it in 3rd push the shifter all the way forward and move the screw in till it barelly moves then back it off a little and boom thighten it. atleast thats how my ripper worked

I recall that the mounting bolts for the Pro 5.0 are about 3/8" longer than the stock bolts because the Pro's mounting flange is quite a bit thicker than the stamped steel stock POS. You won't get the proper thread engagement depth with the stock bolts, possibly resulting in pulled threads. Ditto on loctite for the stick bolts. Dunno about the need for shift stops. Heard that they are a holder over from the original Pro designed for the mustang T5 tranny w/o internal stops. I left mine out w/ no problems for nearly 2 years and 18K miles. Easier to mount the stock boot w/o the stop bolts sticking out.

I would try to get a hold of the bolts if possiable..as for the stop bolts I second Brother J I just backed them all the way out. Just back them out and shift you will notice that the shifter will stop when it is fully engaged. Loctite is a good idea or if you do not have any just put some RTV on the bolts when you are going around the shifter base with it. Both ways have worked for me so far...Michael

You will need longer mounting bolts.
