Has Anyone Thought of This? Everyone knows about that damn skip shift. My question is this: Would it be possible to engage the skip shift selenoid while racing to eliminate the possibility of the dreaded "3rd to 2nd mis-shift"? There's gotta be a way to send the propper current to the skip shift selenoid while at a higher RPM...say....5000 or higher in 3rd gear. This would be similar to reverse being blocked after a certain MPH. GM has already given us the 2nd gear blocker! The only real problem I see is that the selenoid for 3rd gear will also be activated while already in that gear. Any ideas or am I smoking too much?

Yeah I understand that, but I figure if you can figure out how to do it one way you can figure it out for the other. Also just as a thought, I know somewhere on here somebody else was working on making a shifter plate something like the one out of a Ferrari. That way you can see and be sure of what gear you are in. I like this idea of yours better though.

Well wouldnt the the skip shift has a window that it only works in. You would have to be able to modify that portion as well, because past like 2300, it is ineffective. Just go proshifted and rip away. It is 10 times faster for shifting, and less probable to miss.

The skip shift solenoid creates a path from 1st to 4th only. You cannot go into 3rd when the solenoid in engaged let alone come out of it. So, 2nd and 3rd are quite effectively, blocked. You would have to physically modify the gates as well as program the PCM.
