Check out this mounting location! I know I am not the first person to do this, but I think it is by FAR the cleanest and best looking place for it.

Ahhhhhh shift lights......mine is angled towards me and slightly upwards. Just a piece of black plastic epoxied in there with a hole cut in it

all wired up and ready to reconnect the battery...nervous about having something wrong though...my ground i connected to a random metal bolt in between the metal frame that the front quarter panels are bolted to, green wire i tapped into the white #10 and the red wire i tapped into one of the 3 pink/red wires coming out of the pcm. Is this ok or did it have to go to a pink wire inside the car? If i reconnect the battery and something isnt right, can i break anything other than a cheap fuse?

This is how I hooked mine up last night. Green wire went to #10 pin on the PCM. Black wire went to a ground I previously had hooked up for my tranny temp guage. I ran it through the fire wall into the engine bay near the hood struts. There was a bolt that alrady had a ground wire going to it from stock. Red wire I ran to the fuse box inside the car. If I recall it was the gauge/accy fuse which was a 25 amp fuse. Today it works just great.

I dont know whats goin on here. I have the green to the white #10, the red to the pink wire that goes to some empty plug next to my fog light switch, and the black to a good ground. Key in the ignition, turn it to accessory, everything lights up, shift light flashed like the directions say it should. Then it goes off and stays off, set it at 2400 rpms just so i can test it w/out revving the crap out of it in the backyard, went up to 3000 and nothing! Tried it w/ the fog light switch on and off as if that had anything to do w/ it, still nothing. Why would it flash when i turn the ignition on as if its working and then not work when it hits the proper rpm? I have the 3 white switches in the correct 8cyl. position also. Dont know what else to check. Any ideas much appreciated.

1 down, 2 up, 3 down... make sure thats how its set on the shift light. Remember, the dial farthest away from the cylinder setting is rpm in thousands, the one closest to to the cylinder setting is rpm in hundreds. Sounds like you just need to adjust these to make it work properly.

OH MAN! thats gotta be it, i was reading 8cyl mode instead of GM LS1 mode...under 4cyl. Thanks ! I'm gonna go try it right now.

yeah if you look on the paper that came with the shift light, on the back it shows how you set up your vehicle by cylinders. Theres one specifically for LS1's. Set it low and try it, my shift light is exact according to my rpm gauge.
