Problems after spec install! HELP!
I just got a call from my mechanic who is installing my new spec 2+ and billet flywheel, and he says its having some issues. It wont go into reverse unless the car is off and you just force it in?? Said driving in forward gears is "ok" but sometimes difficult to go in. What could be the problem? He is suggesting just drive it around and "break it in" but im thinking something might have been installed wrong? I have a 98, all hydraulics are stock, he says they arent leaking and work fine.....HELP!!

well...either he did not bleed it right or he did not shim it....or if he really did not know what he was doing and used and impact or the wrong touque pattern on the pressure plate...he may have warped it
that would be bad but if all else was taken care off...thats all i see happening
a buddy of mine did another buddys clutch and used and impact to save time and it would not go into any gear when on

yes i know that but he said that going forward was just ok and its still tough...meaning he is forcing it and rev. would be the one that would not go in on these cars because in my experience its the hardest to go in period

is it normal for it to be difficult to get into gears sometimes during the break-in period? They always go in, but going from nuetral to 1st can sometimes be stubborn...?

If the clutch is grabbing right off the floor that is the cause of it not going in reverse and is stubborn to get in 1st.The clutch is not disengaging enough. There could be many reasons for this from a wrongly installed clutch (PP not pulled in evenly) to a crappy old slave cylinder (we always change them if they are not 01+).
If it doesn't go into reverse ever when running then it could be the reverse lockout.

The RLO is on the drivers side directly under the shifter.

My Spec did the same and I had to make the master adjustable (the clutch wasn't disengaging enough).
A guy at Spec told me that sometimes the shim they supply isn't enough and it's necessary do add a thinner shim.
I didn't wanted to open up everything so I did the master job.
No more shifting problems after that
