Default LS6 or LS7 clutch

I am about due to replace the clutch on my 99WS6. My original plan was to put a LS6 clutch in it with a new flywheel. As you can get a good deal for the whole kit. Then of course I was going to replace the slave(01-02) and do the drill mod. Now I am wondering how much extra would it cost to put in a LS7 clutch in it. Does someone sell a kit like the LS6? FYI this is just a lid and cat back LS1 that I may mod a little in the future but nothing too crazy. I am looking for a clutch with awsome grip and like stock driveability.

So I can get a LS7 for 560 or I can get the LS6 for 313 (w/shipping). If the LS6 will hold up just as good(for my mods and what I will do) then it should be the better deal. I don't want to pay extra for overkill. Or do you guys think I will regret it later? Is it worth the extra $250 for my car?

I was checking out the LS7 clutch but decided on the LS6 since it was cheaper and I knew I wasn't going to mod my car anytime soon

Ok I will have to dwell a bit. I am wondering how much abuse can a LS6 clutch take? Powerwise with DRs at the 1/4 track? Where is the cheapest place to get the clutch kits and slave cylinder.

LS6 kit is this the cheapest? ($313 w/shipping)

Ls6 are weak.Buddy has killed his in his 2001 z28 and no track trips just messing around with buds. There were a lot of reports of them being useless at the track but ok in normal light duty type use.buddy can smell that ls6 anytime he does a hard launch.
Ls6 are junk. They came stock in the 2001/2002 cars. Ls7 is still mostly unproven at track under hard use with sticky tires. It should do ok on the street in normal use. That is why want to wait a bit to decide if go textralia or
ls7 in my planned turbo 99. But right now my car is dead in the garage and need to decide on something.Actually my cartech works ok just has a bit more pedal pressure than I like and it needs adjustable masters and kind of sick of those. Ls7 and textralia use stock masters.

my 01 z28 is making 360rwhp and has a few track passes (12.5x) with tons of street race passes, along with 96,xxx miles on the clock. I drive the car hard and so far its all been on the factory ls6 clutch.

many people nuke clutches fast because they dont know how to drive stick, I still have enough clutch left to last another 20,xxx miles. However I will be upgrading to the ls7 clutch when I do heads/cams.

I feel for budget clutches, I will stay with the ls7 clutch. The ls6 clutch has been a proven performer to me, without the horror stories of other brands. Once my car is making 500+rhwp then I will drop the cash and buy a mcloed or exedy....

You can help any clutch live longer if you dump it more than slip it but slipping is easier on the rear end and usually gets the best 60fts.
And 360 rwhp is pretty light power buddies 2001 z28 with just k and n and loudmouth did 320rwhp ,he has longtubes ,lid and think ported tb to throw on there this season. If he don't buy my NOS kit off me too.
So it seems the ls6 can live a bit with some track use course you would have to really look at your mph to see if clutch is still holding. Clutch and can shift and seem to work but your mph goes to heck ,thats what happened with my 99 clutch and some hard playing around with buddies..mph went away.I was trying to slip it though to get better 60fts.
The ls7 might be awesome.I plan on likley around 500 to 600rwhp from turbo so still have to wonder if the ls7 will stand up to that. The ls7 are close to 500rwhp now but the vettes are lighter.

Just bought an LS6 instead of an LS7 yesterday. Problem I ran into is that my clutch is going out and supplies on the flywheel for the LS2/LS7 are low, on backorder actually. I would have liked to have gone with the LS7, but the LS6 should be fine for me at the moment and available quickly.
