Default Help, Clutch Install

My friend and I are currently trying to install a LS7 clutch with LS2 flywheel on his 1998 Camaro Z28. Well we got it on and torqued down, but there seems to be a small problem. When we look at the alignment tool, which moves in and out easily, about 1/3 of the fingers on the clutch are closer to it than the rest. So it looks like the clutch isn't in line with the crank shaft.

We have taken it off and tried remounting it and still the same result. And yes we did do the cross pattern when tightening the bolts and we even progressively tightened them in the cross pattern.

What are we doing wrong? Or is it supposed to look like that?
