Clutch question w/in please
I hear all you folks talking about 'nailing it' and breaking the tires loose. When I had it dynoed the RWHP was 317 HP and torque was 324?
Any suggestions?
Tom (who today, is disappoited with his LS1 Hawk and the ridiculous ins. I pay for it)

if you slipped the clutch the pedal would get all funky feeling along with a bad smell and yes the car would feel lazy along with the rpm's not matching with the rate the car acclerates.
.....I've 'tested' the clutch...5th/6th gear @ 30 mph to see if the RPMs move and the speed doesn't. It was OK.
that is a very common problem, the car with that rwhp is definitely not slow.
...I've done the 1st gear 30 mph roll and nailed it and the tires don't/won't break loose.
you may be used to something with a shorter intake runner and cam profile which produces max torque at a lower rmp than the ls1, which is very smooth and linear (refer to your graph)
...No..but I've been driving a Volvo Turbo around <img border="0" title="" alt="[Embarrassed]" src="gr_emb.gif" />
cars with a lower rpm peaky torque curve will feel snappier, but fall off in the upper rpm's
that help? also, run a couple tanks of fresh 93 through it since its been sitting all winter</strong></font><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I only run Sunoco 93
Thanks for the reply Mighty. I'm going to attach something I did a couple of years ago that might have 'glazed' the clutch <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" />
One time after High RPMs(low gear 3/4th) on a parkway. I got off the exit, went under the over pass, looked around and just dropped the clutch at high RPMs (maybe 3K). Cool burnout, but the clutch pedal wouldn't come all the way up . So I proceeded to drive it right to the mech. I trust. They said no biggie (the pedal came back up), but it wasn't a good idea (the burn-out) since the clutch was heated up from the parkway run.
Thanks,
