Default To much shifter movement

I recently bought a 99 Camaro z28 with 90,000 miles on it. On the way home I noticed that the shifter/tranmission was moving a lot and one of my friends told me that it was probably just a bad transmission mount since then tend to go bad in the Camaros. It was also shifting into gears kind of hard. I replaced the bad transmission mount and for about 2 days there was no movement and it shifted WAY smoother into gear, and since then it has been getting worse and worse. Right now I have had the new mount on for about one month and it is already moving a lot again. It is also hard to shift into gear again.(It isnt extremely hard, but right before it clicks into gear you have to give it a little more effort) I know the transmission mounts go bad regularly, but it shouldn't be bad after one month should it?? I checked all the bolts that hold the mount on and they are tight. Not sure what is going on, but it scares me when my shifter bounces up and down with every bump i hit!

hmm well if your motor mounts are shot thatll probably put alot of stress on the tranny mount and could probably snap it again if they are that bad. try gettin poly motor mounts

my shifter used to move a ton back and forth and after the poly motor mounts it doesnt move mor than 1/8 inch when i romp on it. chnage the tranny mount along with the new motor mounts. you can try gettin a 1LE tranny mount they are a little stronger i beleieve but dont get a poly tranny mount inless u have the poly motor mounts otheriwse u may snapp your tranny casing and you get alot of vibration. .

other than that make sure everything is tight underthere and **** and then you should be good to go. perhaps the torque arm could cause this is the if soethin went bad but im not sure maybe someone else will coment on that but check everyhting cant see anything else causeing a problem

oh and change the fluid, either dexIII or im gonna be tryin penzoil syncromesh sense u got 90k on it anyway sure it could use it

If it is moving excessively just from wiggling the shifter, check the plastic cup bushing that attaches to the transmission linkage. You have to pull the shifter off and you will see where the shifter ball sits into the cup. If this is broken, it will cause a lot of movement with the shifter. You have to buy the whole assembly to get that busing. I think it is like 30.00 from GM.

If it is moving a lot when you are pushing the gas, check your motor mounts.

There isn't any movement from the shfiter alone, it is the actual transmission bouncing up and down. It is a very good possibility that it is the motor mounts because that is about the only thing that i have not checked yet. I am just worried that I am going to mess something up internally with the tranny because the movement must be making it shift harder so that means there is pry more pressure put on somthing else. There isnt a ton of movement just from hitting the gas, before I replaced the trans mount I could put in first and punch the gas and there would be a loud thud, but not there is nothing.

i am having the same problem. i check the trani mount and it seemsd in tact. but i noticed a rubber bushing, could it be that the bushing is bad? in nuetral it does not jump, but in gear and when i hit it pretty hard that it jumps up the most. if it was the motor mnt wouldnt it do it in neutral. the motor does torque some when in neutal but ins't some normal. not sure what to do
