^ what he said. glad you're ok.

I just recently replaced my Spec3 with an LS7 clutch and its night and day. I'm making 400rwhp and it doesn't flinch. I'm sure around 475 it'd start to have issues but I'm not going to push more than ~450 or so on the street.

Guess my point is, between RAM and the LS7, there ARE other options out there.

werd. I'm telling you guys, F-bodies or cts-v's would have not faired soo well.

the Y body's have the framerail running thru the middle of the car, f-bodies or caddys don't have that for protection.

If you look at my framerail, not sure about the C6's but, if you look at mine, theres a four inch dent, that goes in about two inches from the impact,...on the drivers side.

Also, several pieces of metal where inside BOTH cars. Also, a pice did go striaght thru the firewall, knocking off my full throttle switch, and hitting me in the sole of my shoe. Didn't hurt me at all, but,....the **** did come inside the car.

This is a big deal.

Wow, what a sucky situation. Sorry to hear about your loss.

I had a centerforce and hated it, a spec 3 and it was ok but lost its grip after a few track passes. Textralia next, and god I hope its good.

Mcleod is the only one I know of who makes one for the Fbody T-56. Try FLP they can get them for you 877-FLP-2WIN.

wow, yeah, I definatley am going to be getting a scatter sheild right now, I have had no issues with my spec 3, but the car does see a buck 50 every so often, and I like walking. So they seem like the logical issue.

I've always heard SPEC's are sh*t. No one in the EFA near me uses them.

I can attest to the lack of quality control on SPEC clutches. I just had one give up the ghost after only 15K miles with no passes down the 1328.

I have a 3000gt VR-4 but had a similar bad experience with a spec clutch. I had a Spec Stage 2 kevlar full face installed in my car for about 7k miles. I broke in the clutch properly. This clutch chattered during takeoff. One day while shifting into 4th gear, the pressure plate just broke, causing my engine to overrev, sending pressure plate pieces through my bellhousing, and blowing up my oil pump. In the 3SI forums (3000gt and stealth forums) i seem to see most people having problems with the stage 2 clutches, although stage 2 and 3 have the same pressure plate, the stage 2 disc, however, is made by south bend.

Unwritten is a friend of mine. This chain-reaction caused the following part failures:

Pressure plate (explosion)
Bellhousing broken
Oil pump failure (over-rev)
Main and rod bearing failure (oil starvation)

If mine EVER comes apart Ill sure as hell be ready to jump in on a class action against spec. As I said I absolutely LOVE my spec 3+ but if the pressure plate is what is actually coming apart in these instances, I doubt there is much difference between the Spec 3,3+,4,4+, and 5 plates. Also the lack of response here of any kind by Spec, just a (we are investigating) would be fine....REALLY makes me want to consider my options when my clutch finally goes out. Im really eyeballing the Textralia twin disk as my next clutch, and I await some feedback on it.

I've got the Stg.3 Spec that had the center springs let go. Luckily it just jammed up and wouldn't disengage. It had about 3000 miles on it with a VERY easy 800 mile break-in and NO track passes. To explain how easy a life this clutch had...the disk, PP and flywheel still looked almost new. The center section of the disk however was bent where the springs were. I'm going to be taking some pics and contacting spec even though it sounds like it won't do any good.

You lucky dawg.

...and no, you won't get any REAL help from SPEC...we're not.
