Thumbs up

I got my LS7 clutch installed earlier this week too. Got finished up on Tuesday and so far have put about 500 miles on it (Granted 300 of it is a highway trip.)

I went with the Fidanza aluminum flywheel and haven't had any problems. The clutch engagement is starting to rise a little, but like everyone else it was right off the floor. Engagement and acceleration is extremely smooth, no more shakes and vibration at all.

My previous clutch was a Spec stage 3 with their billet steel flywheel and it used to shake a lot at idle and when the rpms got up there. Maybe there was a balancing issue? All I can say is WOW what an incredible difference the LS7 clutch makes for basic drivability. I no longer feel like I'm shaking the car apart on start off (the spec had a tremendous amount of chatter.) With the aluminum flywheel the engine rpm's seem to rise a bit faster than they used to with the billet steel + spec clutch also.

Over all I'd say I'm a happy camper with this setup.
I also got my from Fred Beans, though the level of service wasn't what I expected. Also don't bother trying to get any shipping method other than ground. When I asked about 2 day they quoted me three times the cost of shipping (close to $200 quoted for 30 lbs.)

I got the flywheel from Gripforce.com and they were great to work with. They only charged me $30 for 2-day shipping and ground would have been free.

I am using spec 3 with aluminium flywheel too, to be honest i didn't feel any difference between steel and lightweight... how much did you pay for clutch and PP and what did you pay for aliminum flywheel?

Clutch and PP were 287 + shipping.
I was charged 372 + shipping for the LS2 vette flywheel.

Something tells me the last setup wasn't balanced as this just seems so much smoother all around. No more heavy vibration from idle or putting the foot down.

Just got my LS7 clutch setup in the mail today from T56rebuilds.com

LS7 Clutch and PP
LS2 Flywheel
LS6 Master cyl
LS6 Slave cyl

What else do I need for the install? I plan on doing this myself with a few friends on a hoist ... I just dont want to forget anything.

Pilot bearing? Throw out bearing? Flywheel bolts? Part #'s?
Are there any Clutch install write ups?

Thanks guys,

I used to have a link to a nice clutch swap how to but I lost it. If anyone of you guys has a link or wants to show us your pics you took of your install go for it. I really need to know a few things. For example. Does the Y pipe have to come off? Is there any items that have to be bled before reassembly? Any tips or tricks that will save me time? Please help, my clutch pkg. Is just waiting to be installed.

I'd say do the drill mod to your master, that makes your system healthier

installuniversity.com, I have FLP LT's and my Y-pipe stays when I take it off... I tried to take it out with bellhousing, it is both easier to take it off and put it back without bellhousing [didn't sound right ]

Thanks for the heads up.

I found a write up on installuniversity for the clutch install and drill mod ... shouldnt be to bad.

Any idea on what pilot and throw out bearing I should purchase? Just regular OEM parts for my year LS1?

Thanks,

Aluminum will have less rotational mass than steel, for AX which it looks like you do that would be to your benefit.
