Default Hard to shift sometimes

I have had my car one year and had no problems with my 6 speed until this long weekend. I was out on a ride and when I was shifting, the gears made a noise like I hadn't pushed the clutch all the way in. Then the shifter became harder to move but no grinding noises. All these shifts were at slow speeds in normal stop and go traffic.
Pulled into a mall parking lot stopped and it would not shift out of neutral.
Went in and ate, came back out and it worked but shifting is hard sometimes. Drove about 120 miles to get home on the freeway. I have searched here and just wanted some opinions on what to do? My fluid is dark and my car is a stock 1999 Z28 with 71,000 miles. First thing is to flush the fluid right? Is bleeding the slave hard to do?

bleed whole system, first, then change master, wrap line with heat tape, drill mod if your in there, if still having issues, time to upgrade the slave to a 2001-2002 unit, if you get this far get a remote bleeder, and why not a new clutch. the bleeder is a pain to get to, 7/16 socket and 1/4 inch breaker bar should get it done, or you can bench bleed via mighty vac and an old slave.

Ok, I will bleed and flush first, thanks. If I have to get into it I will replace everything. I am trying real hard not to mod this car. My fast toy was my 78 Z28 with a stroker motor but of course it just cracked the block a few months ago.

Is there a way to check the slave cylinder?
