sounds like you posi. hell I broke mine when it was stock on the street as well. Save some money up and get a 9 inch or rebuild it now for about 600 and then have to do it again in the next couple of years. Or you can find one for sale thats fine for about 300-400 bucks.

I pulled the cover and no metal or breakage in the rearend{ stumped} must be in the t56
the car starts, goes in gear moves out and shifts fine at idle throttle, if any throttle is apllied ,the **** hits the fan ,sounds like broken gears . virgin car, i babied it and this happens . unless the previous owner ran the car hard which i doubt because the dude ran 87 octane in it . I need some help here

Wow, this sounds like my car.
15,000 miles and it just started today. Sounds like its 'poping' out of gear, just normal driving it, with a big grinding noise. Anyone ??

It ended up being a worn slave cylinder, 80,000 mile stock clutch coming apart at the edges , broken reverse gear. The tranny has been rebuilt by t-56 Rebuilds and all new hydraulics replaced drill mod also, no more stuck pedal after a powershift aint happenin . A Ram HD clutch is going to be used along with the matching billet steel sfi flywheel .

All the needle bearings in my stock pilot bearing had fallen out and it made the exact noises you decribed . check that first . I replaced it with a solid bronze one . $10.00 dollar part can mess up your day
