Im very happy with mine. I upgraded to new master and slave also. I have a 00. I dragrace weekly with nittos. I leave around 3300-35-- and have no problems. If you want to launch like4500 or higher on a tire this clutch probably wont hold up. I like the drivability of it also. NO CHATTER in stop and go traffic, and no messing with adj. masters. Just my 02.

I've broken one,but that was an '01 version. The '02 version is visibly beefier. No problems yet.

Default Z06 clutches

Are the Z06 replacement clutches any good? I hear that they have %20 more grip over stock. How does that compare to other setups, taking cost into consideration??

Can you swap in a Z06 clutch and keep the stock master/slave? What are the ramifications if you do? I'd like to have the dealer do the swap for me...

I am in the market for a clutch and have checked up on this. You NEED the slave to go with it.

Ah so.
Wonder if there are any dealers who would perform such a "non-standard" replacement...
So far, the Z06 clutch is sounding better and better! How much torque/HP is safe to run with it?

Dude, avoid the dealer . Its a straight forward replacement any competent shop can do. Youll pay twice as much from the dealer for the same job. You can buy the clutch( it comes with flywheel, and pressure plate for around 350.00 from Pace parts or others.

would it pay to have the replacement flywheel lightened? The stock flywheel is around 30 lb or so - how would streetability be affected by shaving 10-15 lb off?

Ow.

1) IMO, the Z06 clutch (either year) is junk. Just about any cam upgrade is gonna give ya enough RWHP to fry that puppy. Mine lasted less than 1k. I have the SPEC Stage 3 w/ the ported McLeod MC now (& Z06 Slave). Talk about pedal pressure! Talk about chirping at launch! Every friggin' time!

2) Unless you got mundo hp (500+), I'd be skipping the lightened flywheel, and even then *I* wouldn't do it.

A flywheel stores energy. The easier it is for that flywheel to be slowed, the quicker you lose yer powerband. If anything, for good launching, a slightly *heavier* flywheel might be kinda fun.

Fried your ZO6 clutch in 1k?? Dude, i got over 25k and hundreds of passes at the track on nittos with the 01. Now I have the 02 and make over 400rwhp& rwtq and have had no problems! I upgraded the master and slave. With all due respect, it must be your driving style . NO flame intended!
