approved bell housing?

approved bell housing? is it neccessary to get a "scatter shield" housing? i havent heard much bout clutches explodin on these cars...
ive had the same spec stage 3 for a while, and i like it, no problems. however i did just up the hp with a new setup, and really wonder if im ever gonna have that problem and lose a leg or something..ha. does anyone carry better bell housings? any real high hp guys using something different than stock? curious.

A friend of mine and I both have the McLeod SFI bellhousing. We got them from Paul at Thunder Racing. I saw pictures of a couple of LSX clutches that exploded. It's kind of scary to repeatedly dump the clutch at 4,000 + rpm and think of it blowing up. It truly gives peace of mind.
What raised my concern was that when I replaced my first clutch I saw that the OEM bellhousing was aluminum and it was like only 1/8" thick. I mean if you hit it with a hammer it would probably shatter it was so thin. What surprises me is that I go to the drags at three different tracks and tech never looks at the bellhousing.

Minimum modification for the safety it gives. I had to grind a little on the drivers side to clear my Jet Hots and I welded a piece in to close up the hole for a manual clutch arm. Some grinding is necessary on the back of the oil pan. Easy install.
