Default shift **** dilema

Ugh, i can't decide. My car has the factory hurst shifter and therefore came with the hurst leather shift ****. I loved the feel of the ****, but was looking for some more bling.

So, i bought a LSS and an MBA billet ****. I love the way the red sets off the red interior, the WS6 logo looks great. but it just feels odd. there is no cushion between the **** and the transmission, it feels really mechanical. The hurst had cushion and felt better. The MBA also gets super hot in the summer, i think i'm going to get WS6 branded on my hand one of these days.

I just don't know what route to take, form or function. Help?

I don't think a **** is going to help with the mechanical feel; that's the actual shifter. I swapped out my hurst shifter for a ripper and just reused the ****. It's definitely a solid or "mechanical" feel since there's no rubber padding on the shifter like the Hurst had, but I haven't missed a 2-3 shift since (over 2 years now) so it's worth it.

i love the feel of the factory hurst and LSS, the billet **** just makes it feel hard and metalic. Perhaps not so much mechanical, but metalic.

Do you have any pics of the pistol grip?

I like the ball that came with my Z28. I've since replaced the stock shifter with a Hurst Billit Plus, and I bought a LSS. The Z28 ball is awesome. I find it ironic that the "upgrade" Hurst **** is less comfortable.

Yeah, I've got the big black marble too. I HATE the way it looks, but it's too damn comfortable for me to get rid of. (I have yet to find anything more comfortable for Rosy Palm) I just switched out the shifter under it.

I guess it's just a constant reminder of how vain I am.

I've got a similar set up to yours, except I got a black "SS" **** (try touching that when it's been sitting in the Texas sun for 4+ hours). Do what I did, just keep both and swap them out whenever you get tired of the other.

I love my MBA ****. I put a beer koozie over it if it has to sit in direct sunlight, otherwise I get a screaming chicken etched into my hand.

Never used the leather **** but in MHO it looks a bit bulky for the car. And I love the way my ball I have now feels and has the classic style look. Gives the interior a good touch also. Hold onto the leather one and use the ball for a while, if you don't like it switch back and sell the ball.

I'm not into aftermarket ***** either. I voted to keep the old Hurst ****. I have an SLP shifter and WS6 Store stick, with original ****. I think it looks and feels better, plus pays tribute back to the days when having a hurst shifter REALLY meant something. There's nothing like looking into any 60s-70s muscle car and seeing a big, chrome chicken leg shifter with HURST embossed on the sides.
