Yes - less inertia, so the engine doesn't have to work as hard to spin it (and can therefore send that energy to turning your tires instead).
Disadvantage - it is a little more difficult for it to get a heavy car like an F-body off the line.

if you drive on the street and have gears don't go with aluminum unless you like to shift all the time. The billet steel is what most go with unless you autocross your f-body. If you go to the track I definatly don't reccommend a aluminum flywheel. Some see a bit more chatter with a aluminum flywheel, as it is harder to get started.
