Squeaky Clutch (is it slipping?)
Squeaky Clutch (is it slipping?) I have a Ram Powergrip HD clutch w/ Mcleod adjustable master cylinder with the drill mod (all of this came with the car), and when I first start up the car and go to take off, the clutch squeaks right before it engages. It doesn't do it after I have taken off from a stop 2 or 3 times. Can anybody diagnose my problem?
Sintered iron friction material, correct? (or at least something close)? They are known for squealing like a stuck pig - mine did it from time to time, but when I pulled the clutch after 25k miles or so, it looked like it could have gone another 25k easily.
I agree with Steve. The friction material if agressive most likely has metal particles. These will make noise. Same reason why semi-metallic brake pads make a ton of noise. You are just hearing the metal on metal noise until it fully engages.
Well that is a big sigh of relief, one less thing to buy. I have noticed that it changes for different temperatures also, but as long as its ok, then I can live with it.
