Default T-56 Blues

Im going to make this very simple...

Installed new Rev-Lok II and got this-

tranny gets unusually hot in no time
gears whine louder
engage clutch in neutral and hear spinning of tranny parts

kill engine with clutch engaged in neutral and hear rattling sound
strong whine when sticking into 1st or 2nd

...and Im really pissed off about it!

P.S. I have stock hydraulics with new slave and engagement is right at the top.

Hmmmm. Basically louder and hotter. Any chance the shifter boots got left out? Just a wild guess.

No chance at all. The shifter boots are there.

It gets so hot my whole console spreads heat to my right leg.

Also, theres a rattle when killing the engine with clutch engaged in neutral only

and theres a klunk when I engage the clutch in neutral right after taking it out of any gear.
These two things might be related.

Sounds like a defective trans to me. If klunks, klanks and gets hotter than hell and its brand new, send it back! That really sucks! I feel your pain ; We all know how much fun it is pulling trannys.

The rattle when you shut the motor is the throwout bearing and that is normal. Engaging the clutch in neutral and hearing some spinning and rattling is "neutral gear rattle" and is normal for the T-56.It is 5X worse on a Viper!! Could it be that you just never noticed those noises before because you weren't listening as carefully??

StevieZ - thanks alot. I now remember reading something about that.

I think the extra heat is just because theres a iron disk that holds more heat than an organic disk.

I have basically chalked the noises down to bearings and/or gears. oh well. thanks guys!
