Slipping clutch after transmission install??

Default Slipping clutch after transmission install??

We just finished installing a a rebuilt T56 from T56rebuild.com. Everything went well and as we were leaving to head to the track, we get on the interstate and the clutch starts slipping in 5th gear. We come to a stop and take off pretty hard to see if it is indeed the clutch slipping. 1st-4th no problem with aggressive driving but trying to cruise in 5th gear the rpm keeps jumping up as if the clutch is slipping.

Has anyone ever had problems like this??? What whould we look for when we tear it back down?? He is running a SPEC III that he purchased new and has about 2000 miles on it now. Same for the slave and flywheel.

Any suggestions???

Weird, I don't have any issues like that with my trans and Spec 3 I got from them. My friend however had a weird problem for a while where his Spec 2 would slip in every gear but 4th. We just couldn't get 4th to slip no matter what RPM/load, etc. Now all gears work fine. We had bought a used clutch and used his stock pressure plate and flywheel without getting either cut (yes...I know...stupid, but he was broke, and we had to take the transmission out to swap it with mine anyways). I think his stock pressure plate/flywheel were glazed over from his old clutch slipping so bad (every gear, almost any throttle) that even the light sandpaper we used didn't take it off. Once the glaze wore off, the clutch grabbed everywhere.

This was on an LT1, but still with a T-56 obviously.

We are pretty certain it has nothing to do with the transmission. I think we have it narrowed down to the clutch. Still very weird!!

Sounds like the clutch, my 3+ gave out and started slipping after 2k miles also. Thanks Spec

Check the pressure plate bolts and the clutch disk. This same thing happened to me and loose PP bolts were the culprit. The pressure plate wasn't clamping onto the disk strongly enough...
