Default Grinding 2nd gear

Hello all:

i am new here and i just purchased a '98 camaro 6-speed. the problem i am having is when i shift from 1st to 2nd it grinds. if i shift at a low rpm it is fine. if i downshift (i don't usually but tried to diagnos the problem) it is fine. i thought it might be the synchro or is it the master cylinder? it is a pain to drive like this. any input would be appreciated.

Thanks, Ryan

Sounds like a worn blocker ring. Normally when they are worn it does it at a higher rpm. You should rebuild it before it gets worse. If you are mechanically inclined you could do it yourself with the right tools. If not I would suggest having someone do it for you. Then you would not have to worry about it being down for a long period of time.

Thanks,
Amber
