Question Can I replace flywheel without replacing clutch?

I have a high mileage Camaro Z28 but it runs great.

I recently ran into a problem with the flywheel.

At first I thought it was the starter, the car wouldn't turn over you could just hear the starter spin.

I got a brand new starter and it still did the same thing.

After looking into it more, it looks like some of the teeth on the flywheel are messed up/chewed up and it's gonna need replaced.

Even though the car has 100K+ when I bought the car, the prevoius owner told me the car clutch was replaced with a aftermarket clutch around the 75-80k mile mark.

Is it possible to replace just the flywheel and still use my pressure plate and clutch disc that is already in the car now?

Well if you use the same fly wheel i dont see why not. Keep in mind the guy may have just told you he did the clutch. So you may want to do both while you are under there. Some one may know somthing i dont but as far as i know you can

Yes, you can replace just the flywheel. Go easy on it for a while as you'll have a new wear surface to break in.

You can use blind faith and the trust the previous owner OR find the spec on the friction disc and check it with a digital vernier caliper or a micrometer. The parts should look relatively new if they are low mileage as the former owner claims.

I checked my paperwork I got with the car when I bought it and there was a receipt/bill that was for clutch replacement.

The guy never touched the car himself, he always took it to a shop for maintance.
