LS7 clutch installed!!! i picked up my car from the shop. they installed my new ls7 clutch/flywheel set-up. the clutch (with only a few miles on it) drove like stock right out the door. it was GREAT!!! this clutch so far is more than i expected it to be. there was no adjustment that my mechanic had to do with the pressure plate. the engagement point is low... but not as low as i expected it to be after hearing other people's threads about this clutch. i'm sure the clutch will last a long time as it's an OEM clutch that was designed to sit behind a 500h.p. mill for atleast 36k miles to get through warranty. my car is a full weight 6spd swapped car (3.23 gear'd 10 bolt) and has bolt ons. i'd recomend this clutch to anyone who has a mildly modded car ( up to a mild h/c combo w/ stock bottom end and no adder). thanks Matt at Scoggin Dickey for the GREAT deal and customer service on the clutch kit!!! thanks Jon at Speedinc for the recomendation of this clutch!!! and i've already thanked my local mechanic for doing great work at a great price as always. :drive: |
over 10k on mine |
sweet! |
about 5,000 miles here and no problems at all! |
yea... i'm sure this clutch will last. i've driven many spec 3 cars (including my last camaro) and i've liked those... but they don't last under street driving. spec 3's hold a shit load of power and are great racing clutches. my new car is all street... so i wanted to put in a street clutch. the ls7 fits the bill perfectly. |
I'm glad you are already enjoying the clutch! Let me know if there's anything else I can help you out with :drive: |
the LS7 is great, +1 |
Im leaning towards the LS7. How much was it shipped to your door? |
i installed a ls7 clutch and ls2 flywheel last fall, i love this clutch, grips much harder then the orginal did, my friend got a centerforce in his car, dont like it |
Has anyone gone to the track with bf drags or nittos on the LS7 clutch? I keep hearing how everyone likes it on the street, but is it beefy enough to hold some dr launches, or repeated high rpm shifting? I am torn between this and a Text 0Z700. I drive it everyday, then race every other weekend. With 440rwhp on spray I may have to go Text , but dont have too much money to spend here. Anyone else in this boat too? |

have you guys noticed a difference in rev quickness with the new flywheel as opposed to the stock flywheel? i love how quick my car revs now but at 93500 on the stock clutch, its due. i have the ls7 clutch and ls2 flywheel sitting in my room with a new slave and t/o bearing but am having second thoughts after thinking about the heavier flywheel making the motor rev a lot slower and losing power. |
I wont have to worry about that when I install mine, becaue the new procharger that's being installed will help the rev speed :judge: |
the best 60 of that day was a 1.89 then to a 1.91 (best i got w/o the slicks was 2.1x) the clutch felt fine after, but it had a cool down between runs and mine did Rev up slower after the ls7 compared to the ls1 |
The Ls7 will rev a little slower due to the heavier flywheel, but its WAY smoother at high RPM shifts due to the same reason. I cut a 1.9 60' on street tires & ran a 12.9 @ 109 with this clutch a month after installing it. No slipping then & still none now. |
damn...that aint bad. im just worried about the difference at autocross events, but o well, its all fun and games and reliability is part of the game! |
For all of you guys that are worried about the added weight of the LS2 flywheel and LS7 clutch assembly: There is a post on here somewhere that has the actual weights of all of the components. Yes, the LS7 setup is heavier with the LS2 flywheel. But it is only about 5 pounds heavier all together than the stock assembly, which is already about 55 pounds. That is less than a 10% increase in rotating mass. I can't believe that you would even notice it if you are adding any power to the car. I say go for it. |
can you get a lighter weight flywheel to help this? or would that be a bad idea. |
