It shifts around 6300- 6500 if left to itself but if I manually shift I can take it to 6800 rpm. And every car is different but you usually don't benefit in shifting at your power peak. You have to consider the rpm drop for the next gear, and how much the power drops off in the gear your in. My Cobra was always faster shifting right at 7,000 rpm even though 6500 is where it peaked.

its common knowledge to do this, doesnt matter the car. when you shift higher than the peak, once you get in the next gear you will be higher in the rpms, higher in the powerband. shiftin right at peak power puts you at a lower rpm once you get in the next gear.

Some of the higher boost cars because of EGT's and cylinder pressures it doesn't make sense to risk detonation by revving it higher. But then again were talking cars that have enough power to not care much about the next gear!

Right, like i have no need to shift high since I run nitrous. That was kind of the point I was trying to make i guess i just didnt get to explaining it too well. Plus im being a grumpy troll today, ill have to go back under the bridge for the rest of the day.

The reason that I used others as examples, was to show that I wasnt the only one that uses/believes this. I used Tony Mamo because he knows his ****, and is well respected on this site.

I had already stated the reason for shifting past peak when I said it keeps you in the meat of the powerband after the shift is made. It's in the post I made this morning at 8:19.

No doubt it is good to experiment with your own setup and see where it likes to be shifted. Next time out try some different shift points, I think you'll be pleasantly surprised.

To the rest of you fellas....thanks for the support

This is what test & tune is for.
Get a shift light & adjust it & find the best ET providing combo for you & the car.
That is really what you need to tweek is your ability to consitantly drive the car with YOUR shifting.
