Default What do you think?

2004 GTO 530rwhp/440rwtq

I have a used Spec 3 with some use left in it.. maybe 5K miles maybe more.

Should I swap it in and use it up?

or

Buy a new disc for it either Stg. 3 or 3+ (I can get the discs alone for about $210 shipped for the Stg. 3 and about $280 for the Stg. 3+)

or

Just buy an entire new clutch set up? between $360 and 510....

Suggestions..?? Besides don't buy Spec....

i'd say dont even bother with it unless you just really like working on your car. prolly going to have to resurface your flywheel and all that jazz too. i would just ditch the old one and buy a new full set. just my .02

Todd if it only has maybe 5k left dont even bother putting it in because you know youll be pissed when you have to do it again at or near the end of the season . i thought you had more left on it then that

Well I guesstimate 5K whereas I have a lot more power now and will be using slicks vs. street tires and DRs!

The stg. 3 disc new is .310" the disc I have measures .300" so I have about 1/3rd of the life left...

I am trying to decide which is the best way to go.. an entire new set-up would be great, but if I can utilize what I have why not save a few bucks. If it means dropping the trans a few times, well it's nothing I haven't done before..

3+, 4 or 5.... is the question! or another brand perhaps!

Yeah I have been thinking that... but I don't track the car that much and I won't be just dumping it with the IRS I'll have to slip it, (although I am going to look at a trailer this weekend ) just incase stuff does break at the track...

I want good streetability but a tough clutch in general, which the Stg. 5 is no doubt..... but how good are the street manners? On and Off switch and I don't mind the squeal, I have this constant whine all the time ya know!

honestly i like it better than my 3x i had. less chatter but i will say it doesnt slip as easy as some of the others. i dont slip it much anyways though. tracer drives his all over with the 5 too . youd really have to drive it to see if you would like it or not . i drove a bunch of them and other clutches so i knew how it was gonna react

Perhaps I'll have to get with you and/or Marcel to see how the 5 acts..? I don't have any problem going that route because I know it'll hold the power and heck the price is better for the 5 over the 3+..... LoL
