Default Is this synchro assembly still OK?

I'm rebuilding my T56: the reverse synchro assembly doesn't look good (look at the pics).

Can I reuse it?

Can I just reverse it and use the other side of the ring? (The other side is of course new: the reverse synchro assembly engages only on one side).

Thanks

Stefano

That would be a cheap fix, but it's already apart why not do it correctly? What's the part cost $80? $100? Just do it right and never look back.

I fully agree, but look at my location... over here it's almost impossible to get those parts.
Shipping from the US won't be that cheap and I wanted to finish te rebiuld now...

soo... if the cheap way is an acceptabe way... why not?

I still don't know if it's OK to turn that ring or not

Use the new side for the reverse gear (flip the sleeve) . Take a angle grinder with a 120 grit pad on it and lightly grind the inside of the sleeve on the side that took the damage to smooth out the ID of the slider so that it slides smoothly over the OD of the hub . Do not worry about the points on the slider since you are using the new side to engauge reverse now .

OK thanks, that was clear!

Does it makes a difference if I flip just the slider and keep the hub in the original position?

Flip it. Only on the reverse can you do that.
