T-56 with a torque converter?

Default T-56 with a torque converter?

I dont know if this is really more for the gurus, or if i have just been in the dark...

I found a video on the net(cant remember what it was but ill find it and post it up here asap), where ls1 sand rail were using t-56's with torque converters instead of using a clutch... first i can see how this is possible, but how are they able to shift (since there is no clutch to release), and is this possible for a street car (or anyway that this could be easily streetable)?

...Pro's and Con's???

I don't know why you'd want to use a T56 in a sand rail in the first place but hey who knows ???

ive heard of automatics with clutches, but never the other way around

not that this isn't possible, most of the 10.5 outlaw cars are running lenco's and burnos with converters. mainly due to weight breaks but some of the race tracks don't allow a clutch at all. So yes you can run a converter on a manual I don't know about a t56 though, and what would be the point anyway, a sand rail should want as much lock up as possible why would you put a converter in that would slip
