Default Need New Clutch?

I have a 02 Z28 and my clutch has started slipping. I put on an SLP lid, pacesetter LTs, ORY, GMMG catback and 10 spokes with GS-D3s in the back and recently ive been noticeing a little slippage some times on daily driver takeoffs and at higher rpms, but i only have 39000 miles, is this too much for my stock clutch?

Thats funny, you have almost the exact same car. I have 38840 miles, Lid, headers, cat back, suspension and 12 bolt with a stock 02 clutch. No slipping yet. This car was Daily driven by a girl for 30k of thos miles. I think its driver related, it got slipped just one too many times and its glazed.

If the car was truely driven correct and not raced and not much more power then stock is made, no reason it cant do 100k.

If you really want to know if it's slipping, the best way to check is to put it at a fairly low RPM in 5th or 6th and then floor it. Typically (at least with most aftermarket clutches, not 100% sure about stock), WOT at low RPM in overdrive gears will cause very obvious slipping. You should see the tach shoot up and the engine rev, but you won't go anywhere for a second or two until it starts to catch.

This has been my experience with every aftermarket clutch that starts slipping (not all mine, some friends/family), but like I said, I'm not sure it's the same with a stock clutch.

hey david sorry i haven't called you back yet! I'm guessing this is what you were gonna ask about. Do what PewterScreaminMach said......put the car in 6th gear at like 40-50mph and put the accelerator to the floor. If you clutch is slipping at all it will DEFINATELY do it here! I will give you a call in the morning. It SHOULDNT be your clutch already though! Unless whoever had the car before you had NO CLUE how to drive........

BTW.......my stock clutch lasted me until 80,000 miles. And 10,000 of those miles was with the cam i have now. There are several guys on the BVSB forum that have reached 100,000 miles on their stock clutch. And none of us are easy on our cars.
