Default Question for all the M6 guys!

When you shift while racing, do you mash the clutch pedal all the way to the floor, or just half way or less? Cause i've been mashing it all the way down, and friends are telling me that's wrong, and i'd shift faster if I only tapped it a little less than half way or something. I would think that if you didn't put it all the way down, it would hurt the tranny or clutch or something, but i'm being told otherwise, just curious. Please fill me in and let me know about any special techniques, so I can shift as fast as all the big dogs!!!! Thanks!

When you consider how fast most people around here blow up their M6's I would depress the clutch pedal all the way down when shifting. I have 41,000 mile on mine with the original clutch and knock on wood have never had a trans problem. I might add that I rarely speed shift this trans (not letting up on the gas between shifts) due to there history of being so weak. Hope this info helps.

It really all depends on where the release point is on your clutch pedal. If your clutch releases near the top of the pedal, then it would be no problem for you not to mash it all the way to the floor when shifting. Just push the clutch in as far as it needs to be to disengage. If your release point is more down towards the floor, then you'd better mash the pedal all the way down or your going to be in for a rude awakening when you try and change gears.

Aight thanks guys!!! What is the best way to find my engage/disengage point? Would it be to start letting off it in 1st without giving gas and see where it starts to grab and get back in it before it stalls out?
