Default Does this look Normal???

First off I hope this is the right place for this thread if not can you tell me where to repost it

I bought my wife an MGW short throw shifter for her 2003 MACH 1(Yes I know its a ford ) and when I was installing it I came across this. I always thought that any cuts to the body of a car (example the hole where the transmission goes up through the floor) from the factory would be fairly smooth and clean cuts. When I removed the rubber dust boot exposing the transmission this is what it looked like (look at the area to the right of the shifter and below it ) the metal looked like someone took a hacksaw to it
Is this normal or should I be asking someone some questions??

Looks like it was not a manual car at one time.I would ask the person you bought it from if it was if thats what your asking about.

The car was an automatic before and someone cut the hole out for the shifter and did a terrible job in the process of converting it .

Either that was done by a 6 year old trying to hold a high power cutting wheel or the last owner of your car needs to get checked for parkinsons.

Well what I am mad about is that we are supposed to be the 2nd owners and the first owners were an elderly couple 55+ who bought the car new and only took it out on weekends and thats why it had 3100 on the odometer and it was 4 years old and the guy said they had never serviced the vehicle so now I am not so sure he isnt lying
