I have customers making 1600rwhp with stock Tremec gear sets in Vipers, and F-bodies making 1000-1200rwhp with stock Tremec gears, and the normal upgraded parts, forks, keys etc. I don't know about the auto side of it. I don't know of any 4l60 that will hold over 1000rwhp. I know that th400, and powerglide will hold lots of power, but the fastest of the fast use clutch/manual. (pro stock, pro mod) As the pro mods run 5.90s at 230mph with a manual

It really depends on the purpose... I can build you a 2,500 H/P Glide you would have a hard time breaking. A TH400 as well for that matter.

But, about the most you will get out of a 4L60E is in the 650 range. It was designed to take 385 lbft torque from day one. That being said, we have guys in the mid to low 10.xx's with them. I know of several in the 9.xx's.

I would suggest that it really is combination specific, meaning that you need to decide what your short term and long term goals are and then build for that mindset.
