3rd gear synchro gone again... Well, it's time #2 at the dealer. It went out at 8k miles, and now at 21k, it's out again. Gotta take it in Monday. Anybody else have problems with the 3rd gear synchro? Just wondering if it's just me, or of other people have had this problem. Figures it went out today, was gonna take it to the track tomorrow cause the 12-bolt went in today. While I'm on the subject, those of you with mosers, mine has a regular gear whine, as I expected, but it also has a high pitched whine, sounds like a jet engine getting ready to take off. I dunno if that is right or not. Oh well... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Frown]" src="gr_sad.gif" />
Re: 3rd gear synchro gone again... Sorry to hear that... My 3rd gear synchros went out four times, got rebuilt but the dealers (2 different dealers) four times, then went out again. That's when I switched to an auto.
The 3.70 gears in my Moser whine too, BTW. They're harder material than the stock gears, in order to be more durable, and as a side effect, they tend to whine. So yes, that's fairly normal. (I see posts every once in a while from people who claim that their steeper gears don't whine, but they seem to be few & far between.)

Re: 3rd gear synchro gone again... 2nd time for me, only 5800 miles on the car. Its put away for the winter now but as soon as it warms up a bit its going back to the dealer.
