Hurst Billet Plus Question???

Hurst Billet Plus Question??? Got my Billet Plus in today. The stick looks kinda long, but I'd rather not order a LSS or any other stick. Have any of you cut some off the stick that comes with it and if so, how much? Also, any tips on the install as far as setting the adjustments? Thanks 
I have that shifter with a short stick and it's ok.
I thought of using the Hurst stick because of the bend, but you are right, it's too long. I was going to get a die so I could cut and thread it, but I never did.
I asked about the stop adjustments on here and sixspeeds inc said the T56 does not need the stops.

I'm sure you could cut down the hurst stick but FYI u can get a Byunspeed shortstick for $14 which happens to be the same as the UMI shortstick. Thats what I run. The UMI shortstick/Hurst billet and I love it.
If you choose to cut the hurst stick down, the in factory form its 8.5" long. Most aftermarket shortsticks are 6-6.5", so cutting 2" off should work good enough.

Yes actually...my car has an in dsh DVD player and the stick was too long. I took the stick off and cut one inch off of the bottom and welded the stick back together. An inch doesnt sound like much but it made a huge difference. All of the short sticks looked too short. I can send pics if interested.
yes, you can cut off the bottom of the stick and drill new holes. it is easy and won't take long. just cut a little at a time until you are happy with the size.

Thanks for the replies. I've got a friend that works at a local bolt/screw shop. He can cut it and rethread it. Should I cut from the top or bottom? I'm just wondering if it will screw up the ergonomics of the curved shaft. Are the short sticks shorter above or below the curve?

I have a Billet Plus with a LSS. It's bends are identical to the original longstick but it's obviously about 2" shorter. I love my Short Stick but it does required more effort to shift because you don't have the added leverage of the long stick. Nice thing about he Hurst Billet plus is you can adjust the centering tension by removing 2 of the 4 springs inside the shifter. Once I did that the stick no longer had that notchy feel.
Also the T56 does have internal stops but if your shifter has them why not use them ?

The bottom is flattened and grooved to prevent slipping.

Thanks, that's the answer I was looking for. I saw where someone had posted in another thread that he had cut from the bottom and re-flattened it and then drilled screw holes. Makes more sense to me to cut from the top and rethread. Again, thanks.
