Clutch Install Woes

Clutch Install Woes I was going to go ahead and put the clutch in today, and I went to line up my 402/980 setup with the SLP Replacement flywheel that I ordered. The flywheel looks very much like the average ls1 flywheel. However, when I tried to fit it up, these two pieces that come out of the flywheel that look like it is to put the assembly in place blocks it. I tried to see if these came out but they did not. These two little thin stud looking things just stick out and block the way. Any ideas as to why this is? Did the lt1 flywheel have these? I'm not sure If I got the wrong flywheel or if maybe there is just something I don't know. Will this flywheel only work with a stock clutch assembly or something? I'm 99% sure the clutch/pp are correct, as they went up to the tranny fine. I also bought them from a sponser who mainly deals in LS1 parts.

Re: Clutch Install Woes I have beat to hell and back on them dowels and they are not coming out. should i get the black and decker drill out? lol or would that be a no no

Re: Clutch Install Woes are you sure you tried every way of putting the clutch on if that clutch is meant for your car it should line up with those allignment dowls that stick out did it come shipped with it in those dowls mine did so double check

Re: Clutch Install Woes This just occured to me but are you saying the the pins are hitting the block and the flywheel wont bolt up? Or are you saying that the Pressure plate won't bolt onto the flywheel because these pins are not lining up? Can you take a pic??
The pins are there to align the PP to the FW and they should face out towards the PP not to the block. Maybe they put them in backwards or you have the FW backwards. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: Clutch Install Woes Got them out pretty easy, had to use a friends punch.. Everything aligns up perfect now! I appreciate your help. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" /> Hopefully this will be in soon as I can get a T/O bearing off of ramair <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />
