Exclamation LS7 clutch install problems

I am trying to put an LS7 clutch in my Z and the plate surface on the pressure plate sticks out so far the the plate housing wont bolt to the flywheel. I sticks out so far that the bolts wont reach the holes they go in. Did anyone else have this problem? please let me know. Also do I HAVE to use an LS2/LS7 flywheel or will one for an LS1 work? Please let me know asap.

LS7 requires the LS2 flywheel. Check to see that the clutch isn't being installed backwards.

yea, you need the flywheel because the ls1 flywheel is flat across the entire surface of the flywheel, and the ls2/ls7 flywheel has pedistals where the bolts thread in for the pressure plate to sin on. Just put that set up in mine.

My LS2 flywheel was definitely bigger than my LS6 flywheel (stock 01-02 flywheel). Are you trying to put the LS7 PP on the stock flywheel? I'm not sure if the LS1 is the same size as the LS6, but I'm guessing it'd be smaller if anything.

But, I could be wrong. Measure the PP and FW though, to make sure. My install when fine, everything bolted up with no problems.

Yep, the LS2/LS7 flywheel is REQUIRED. If your tryin to use the LS1, then thats your problem.

And don't attempt to do any shimming or any of that crap either. This clutch is a DIRECT bolt in replacement.

LS1/LS6 = Gen III style, LS2/LS7 = Gen IV style

98-02 = Gen III style ie LS6/LS1 flywheels are identical.
