Default Strange downshifting problem...

Ok I did a 6spd swap a few months ago probably less than 500 miles on the new clutch and the trans supposedly was recently rebuilt.

When I downshift to 1st (around 30mph), car has 3.23 gears, it feels like the rear just locks up and I can't give it any gas and have to stab the clutch back in. I also noticed when I downshift i get a low trac light, even with the TCS OFF.

I really don't understand this...

i was taught never to downshift into first, the gear ratio is too high. just drop it into second

If you get a low track light that means the rear times are slidding, or skidding.

That is a high speed to downshift to first at. You would have to rev match the motor to get it to go in.
1st gear at 30 mph is around 3500 RPM with 3.23's & stock tire size.
So if you stabbed it to 4K in neutral & dropped 1st it should go.
But your asking alot of the car/trans driving it like that, that is more like a road racing type situation to shift like that.
Not rev matching & dropping a low gear @ high speed will cause the problems you describe. It will lock up for a moment till the vehicles speed gets the engine's RPM to match the speed in the particular gear.

Like its been said learn rev matching and look up double clutching (no, seriously). You're supposed to combine the two when you downshift, into 1st at least, or else your synchros will cry.
