Re: T-56 fluid capacity My trick is to get the car on jack stands (level, of course), remove the fill plug and full it through the shifter hole until it runs out of the fill hole. This is the least messy way to do it (if you happen to have the shifter out). Otherwise, get a gear oli pump from your local parts store (just a hand pump that fits quart bottles) and get under the car and pump it in until it dribbles back out of the fill hole and put the plug in it. These trannys are "splash lubricated" and if there is too much fluid, you may not get lube to "sling" up to all of the bearings etc (you will also have increased friction and may dump lots of oil once the trans warms up at the track or on a road trip).
