'01 T/A Diff Noise
I know the stock torsen diffs in in the late model f-bodies are prone to failures, but what exactly goes bad? I have a M6 and have been running 4.10's for the past six years. I'm now hearing noise from the rear (clunking when changing from forward to reverse and around corners) and suspect the problem is in the diff. Are the problems with the torsen units gear problems, bearing problems or problems with the diff itself? I want to plan the pull down and have no idea what to expect. Any help would be appreciated.

I had problems with my torsen at one time.. The sounds your hearing is the slider pin which is the first thing you have to remove when you are doing a rear end change! also, the torsen has a spider gear that works the POSI unit that is easily breakable where as the Auburn POSI unit uses a clutch style to work the POSI unit!! Auburn POSI unit is so quiet you can even hear anything! Hope that helps!
