Default Spec 3 Question

Ok, finally after 4 days of fighting with a new mcloed bellhousing, all new hydros, and spec clutch and flywheel, its back together. I have had a factory clutch, then a piece junk centerforce, and now my spec 3. My question is, is the spec 3 supposed to be jumpy and grabby taking off the line? My whole car shakes getting it moving for maybe 2-5 seconds, but after that no more until I stop and take off again. I dont know if this is right or if I some how managed to mess it up. Any info is appreciated.

The spec should feel more agressive than the previous factory/centerforce clutchs. I don't know about jumpy/grabby, but it is definately going to engage harsher. 3-5 seconds seems a little long though. Clutch should be fully engaged well before then.

Its an aggressive clutch, work on breaking it in for about 500 miles of city driving. That will bed the clutch in. Shift as much as possible. That clutch will always be fairly jumpy though.

That's clutch chatter. It should decrease as you go through break-in and disappear at some point.

The jumpy/grabby is the new clutch. 3-5 seconds sounds like you might be trying to slip the clutch which is not good for this one. It will take some practice to get it to leave good, but once it breaks in it's not that bad. I usually rev til about 1800rpms and come out on the clutch in one smooth motion. Faster than slipping it, but not just dumping it if I'm making any sense. Haven't had any problems yet and that was last march I put mine in and have made quite a few 5-6k launches on it and (fingers crossed) it doesn't slip one bit.

Your description sounds normal for chatter during break-in. That being said, follow the above suggestions for continuing the break-in and let me know if you have any further questions or concerns. Thanks!
