Clutch bleeding problems
I bench bled using the gravity method, suspending the reservoir and the cylinder and opening the slave connecction. I adjusted the rod length to stock per the instructions. It would not go in gear, so I lengthened the rod, raising the pedal (surprising there is no stop under the dash) until it would release. Fiddled around with barely pushing the pedal like I do to get air to rise into a brake MC. No luck. Pump a couple time and wait. Repeat several times. No luck. Went in the house depressed. Man, I did not want to r&r it. Re-read all the bleeding notes I had and searched the forums again. Didn't find any clues. Read the GM manual. They said if all else fails, pump the clutch rapidly 30 time and then let is set for a bit to let the air find it's way back to the reservoir. I tried that on the way to work this AM, and immediately noticed it was engaging higher. Did it a couple more times and now the clutch engages at the top! This seems to be a useful technique that I had not seen mentioned anywhere before, so thought I would mention it here.
