I use 6th gear at 45 mph if i'm just going that speed. It's at about 1000k rpms. Doesn't bog or anything if I barely push the gas. I've I decide to go up in speed I downshift to 5th then make my way up. I have 4:10s. My 5th gear is important to me. 35 mph is the speed limit around town. At 35 in 5th gear i'm at 1500rpms.

well i finally talked to them and they said that our local GM dealer kept giving them the wrong shift forks and that they finally got the correct ones, i guess GM had a bunch of discontinued ones and never did get rid of them. how much should i expect to pay, do u think that they will put in additional labor charges because of GM being dumb and carrying wrong parts?

No, if he charges you more for that sue the living **** out of him. Didn't he give you an estimate of time and cost? I'd be waving the flag.

when in 6th gear at 50mph i cant punch it. a little gas and it climbs. if i need to get going quick, just downshift to 4th and off i go.

You should have posted here sooner and kept in touch with your service guy more. If he or you had gotten in touch with ssi, you would find all kinds of upgraded parts to choose from so you would fix it one time and now you would have a bullet proof M6.
Upgrades and rebuild kits from a sponsor cost less and ship on time better then from local stealership.

You guys have weird *** ways of driving.

1st = 10mph
2nd = 20mph
etc in that pattern to
6th = 60mph minimum

If you are just cruising around and NOT accelerating you can actually use 6th around 45mph. Even then, a small blip of the throttle is enough to gain 1-2mph per second which is still more than enough to adjust speed in decent moving traffic. If you have to apply as much as 2/3 to 1/2 throttle before you get any response then downshifting a gear is in order as any more acceleration than that and you are seriously straining the engine.

I'm looking forward to installing my 3.90 gears. I find that while in town I do the 1-3-5 shifts often, but I'm at the cusp of having to downshift if I want any significant acceleration while in those gears. The dead spot for my cam is around 1400rpm, when stock it was a bit lower around 1200 rpm, just above idle.

I consider "bog" basically the rpm where you get almost no throttle response.

so i finally got my car back, few more questions, so it goes through all the gears fine but now shifting down from 3-2 it wont go in unless i really force it, i was just wondering if that was typical since it just got the syncro replaced?

also i got my car back around 2pm, i didnt notice till the sun went down but non of my dash light will come on, i checked all the fuses and wut not, and the stock radio dosnt have any lights on it when the car is running but it does when the car is NOT running the lights work on the radio. does any one have any sugestions?

because now you risk negating any evidence that it came back from the shop that way. should this fall into the hands of a court, he could say it was fine when it left the shop and you jacked with it and tried to blame it on him.

i'm not flaming you dude, i'm just trying to teach you how to defend yourself. he needs to take more than a look, he needs to fix it. if he cant fix it he needs to pay you for having it fixed at the stealership. i know he's your dads friend but if he doesnt fix your car you need to sue the **** out of him.

ya i understand thanx for the advice and all but as soon as i put in that fuse it poped right away again, this car is doing some f*cked up stuff with the lights, because the tail lights wernt working and nothing on the dash works, but this morning i noticed that all the gauges started working and the radio was working normaly, then i flipped the lights on and everything went out again, i think its got something to do with the light switch

I got 4:10s in mine and I tend to skip 3rd and 4th gear because if I shift into either of them, they throw me a quick short grind. Tranny gears are expensive to change out, so I'd rather just skip them till I ship the tranny off to sixspeedsinc. I dont have any problem with everyday driving, I cant race people, but hey, I can still pull the front wheels off the ground

unless i am getting on it, i dont go thru the gears in order like that... that would get annoying real fast. i usually end up skipping 2nd or 3rd, or both. and when im at a constant speed i put it in as high of a gear as i can without going under 1k rpm. 6th gear @ 45mph is awesome for saving gas

yeah you need to take the car back to them and calmly explain to them the problems you are having. going up there and giving them attitude often just makes things worse. if they arent willing to make it right, then politely inform them that they will see you in small claims court
