Default Another Clutch Thread

Well I blew up my stock clutch at the track Friday night (5500K launch with Dr's and the 1.8 60' must of fried the bitch). I've read a lot of good things about the LS7 clutch kit for those that DD there car, but I don't DD my car, it's not a race car but it's just a weekend toy. I've read some REALLY bad things about Spec's that kinda scares me about from getting a Stage III Spec. Also read some things about the RAM chattering really bad.

Is there any other company's I should look into? I was really dead set on the Spec until I started reading what I did. I really don't feel like shelling out all that money and then something going wrong and them not standing behind there product.

Also should I just re-surface my stock flywheel or get an aftermarket one? I know for the LS7 you need to have the heavier LS2 flywheel which kinda turns me off to it two.

I'm a weekend warrior. I am breaking in the LS7 kit. It has about 450 miles on it so far and holds my mods very well, smooth engage and shifting. I put a different brand in earlier this year and was very disappointed with all the chatter. I thought my car was going to fall apart. I replaced it with the LS7 and life is good.

I'm running the LS7 w/fidanaza flywheel and I'm very happy. But, mine is a DD during the non-snowy months. From what I've heard, the LS7 isn't a good clutch for track use. It doesn't like partial engagements and will glaze easily on hard launches.

I would recommend you look at something like a RPS or Exedy if you're going to be at the track.
