Driver mod tweaking
So, my real point in posting is that after all that i've done, landing around 350 rwhp and 346 tq, i'm hittin right at a low 13.3 1/4 time (2.1x 60'). Yeah, thats not really a whole lot to brag about, and there is DEFINITELY room for improvement there. I bet that a 4.10 gear and some stiffening in the rear end would easily bump me to the 12's, but my concern is the reliability of that approach. I know the rear end will **** out eventually, and i want to prolong that.
My biggest concern is that there is a track day coming up next month, and i have not changed a damn thing since last track day. Kinda dont want to spend 40 dollars on a track day if i'm going to see the exact same results, ya know? People been tellin me "oh its going to be cooler and less humid, you might hit better times" but we all know that nothing ever goes the way you want it to.
So- with this fancy pants aussie 'tex clutch that i have, in all of its awesomeness that i love more than my left nut, i've heard that it can be slipped so i can launch harder than 2k rpms and not spin the hell outta my wheels, cuz thats how i did it last track day. Feathered it at 2k then just dropped the clutch. Clutch had RIGHT AT 500 miles on it, so the pressure plate tines were still pretty stiff, as well as every component in the clutch having the "new parts stiffness" to it. So basically, i wasn't able to slip it that well.
its about 3000 miles since the clutch install now, and the clutch is really showing its awesomeness and versatility. Now that its showing that it can be slipped a bit, the *** end doesn't wheel hop when i pull out of my driveway (lol...). So, i need to experiment with slipping on a launch. For my setup, i've heard that around 3k slipping the clutch can drop my 60' times nearly a tenth (or two), not to mention being a little more gentle on the rear end.
If everything were to go smooth, and this did work, and the stars were all in alignment.... would 12's be within my reach simply due to a driver mod tweaking?!?! If so, i'll spend the 40 bucks to go and practice. The clutch can take the abuse, thats for sure. If its going to mean LESS abuse on the rear end than a 2k clutch dump, i'll feel a HELLUVA lot better than i would before.
thanks in advance
