Description:

1981 Silverado short bed from Tennessee. Unknown mileage, dash says 30,000 so probably 130,000. clean title in my name. Driver quality, looks great from 10-15ft. Has light patina here and there, clear coat peeling, minor dings (no dents) very minor rust spots on bottoms of doors. Floors & rockers are spotless. Original paint and body from ‘81 never been restored. New polyurethane body mounts. Interior has new carpet and dash pad, factory sound deadener removed and put some dynomat on floors and firewall. Door panels are weathered, seat has a slit in the drivers spot. Open areas in dash where radio and heat/ a/c controls were removed. Tinted windows.

I built this truck to drive to the local drag strip on Friday nights and have fun.. long story short the track closed for good and the truck doesn’t get driven much.

Rear end is a stock 8.5” GM 10 bolt with a Yukon limited slip, Yukon 3.73 gear, Yukon 28 spline axles, moser c-clip elims, moser diff cover, crush sleeve eliminator. New drum brakes on the back. Caltrac bars, eibach shackles, c-notch, flip kit.

Front suspension has a QA1 coilover conversion kit with double adjustable shocks . ($2000+)

Transmission is a fully built TH350. Full reverse manual VB shifted once the stock column. Deep alum pan, b&m trans cooler, PTC 3400 stall. SFI flex plate with ARP bolts. Action machine local built driveshaft, new yokes and u-joints, balanced.

Engine is a stock GM 4 bolt main block. Scat cast crank, stock rods w/ ARP rod bolts, stock cast pistons, rotating assembly balanced, new bearings and pistons rings are gapped for boost. ATI super damper. ARP head bolts. New gaskets throughout, new oil pump, double roller timing chain. Lunati voodoo flat tappet cam and lifters. BTR pushrods. Vortec heads fresh from machine shop, surfaced, stainless valves, valve job, screw in rocker studs, scorpion roller rockers, beehive spring and retainer kit. Engine is about 9.25:1 compression. Proform valve covers. Single plane intake. Wilson manifold tapered carb spacer. Procharger D1SC supercharger kit, 12-rib belt setup. EV pro carb hat, trick flow throttle bracket. Longtube headers wrapped. Custom single 4” exhaust with borla muffler.

Fuel system is an aeromotive 15 gallon stealth fuel cell with in-tank 340lph pump. All russel braided AN lines and fittings, -8AN feed and return. Aeromotive regulator, quick fuel fuel log, aeromotive fuel pressure gauge. CSU blow through 650cfm gas carb. I have extra spring for the regulator to convert it to EFI required pressure.

Ignition is an MSD programmable 6AL-2 box, MSD billet distributor, new plug wires, coil, plugs, thermal plug boots.

Summit aluminum radiator, Edelbrock aluminum water pump, SPahl single electric fan with painless 70 amp relay. Custom overflow tank. Optima red top battery with ICT billet battery mount. Wilwood manual brake master cylinder, adj prop valve, line lock. Borgeson quick ratio steering box with upgraded steering shaft. GM type II power steering pump with custom fabbed reservoir, braided stainless lines. Auto meter oil pressure, boost, water temp, tachometer with shift light. AEM wideband o2. Wheel vintiques 15x10 Steelies on back with 275/60/15 Mickey Thompson drag radials. Summit mini starter. Newer tires on stock front steel wheels. Drive shaft safety loop installed.
Polyurethane engine mounts.

Cons:

truck is fairly stripped down to lose weight for the track so there are not many creature comforts. No heat or a/c, radio and wipers have been removed, no cruise control. Open areas in dash where heat/ air & radio controls were. Factory wiring harness was thinned out (not hacked) for just the bare necessities. The inner fender sheet metal for the front fenders was trimmed out, small spot of the hood structure was trimmed for clearance. Truck drives straight down the road but needs alignment (never done after coilover kit). The truck brakes good for manual brakes but I feel there may be a tiny air bubble trapped I haven’t been able to get out yet. Factory gauge cluster doesn’t work.

It does still have power steering, all lights work, horn works, turn signals.

The truck drives great around town, doesn’t run hot, gets thumbs up everywhere I go. Runs 3000 rpm at 62 mph so not exactly good for long distance highway driving. Never been on the track or a dyno but I would guess 450 hp and high 11’s if it would hook. Right now the timing is set conservative, 8-9 lbs of boost and runs on 93 octane. No hiccups or bucking or anything, no choke on the carb so you have to let it warm up a bit when cold.

Have tons of extras that could be negotiated. Extra procharger pullies, rear VAS FAB shock relocation kit with double adjustable Viking shocks, sbc parts, bunch of stock parts, extra wheels and tires, hub caps, etc.

There are many different directions you could go with this truck. Drive it as is or part out the SBC and Procharger stuff which would probably pay for an LS swap.

asking  $19000 as is with all extras. OR $17,500 without the Procharger kit and you bring your own 4150 carburetor to bolt on. Located in Mishawaka, IN.

I still have the truck. Currently doing an intake manifold swap, changed a couple other minor things.. should be back up and running in a few weeks, just waiting on a few parts.....
