It came out of a 5.3 or 6.0. it will not fit a 4.8.

Agreed on the 4.8. Im not sure that a 4.8 ever got gen 4 rods of their 6.298 length, only the gen 3 rods.
The 5.3 engine gets “batch balanced” rotating assemblies. As does the 6liters and the 6.2 liters. The “batches” are different from series to series, so I was only curious about the engine due to possible weight differences between the gen4 rods. All the gen4 rods are the same dimensionally speaking, I’m just not sure about the different batch number weights. I’ve seen three different gen4 rods with different stamping. I’m not trying to make a big deal out of this, believe me….but…if you have more than one stamping numbers in your stash of rods, I’d like to know so that I could match one of yours, with my set of 7. I’ll buy one regardless, and if it’s got a different big-end weight, or small-end weight, I’ll balance it myself. PM me your PayPal info please.

The 4.8 did get Gen IV rods. It is always a good idea to balance the crank. Different weight piston and rings, rods and even the crank itself. Here are the rod stamps....

I didn’t realize that GM the 4.8 that long. Well there ya go. Anyhoo, the rod I need is a GKN 3847 stamping, so that works great. Interesting though…mine don’t have the cut that yours does there on the cheek, up by the beam. Irrelevant. What’s your PayPal? I’ll take one.
