Description:

Upgrading from stock 2:73? Hoping fo deal on gently usee 3:23 plus anything else to benefit while its opened up. In West Texas, but would be glad to pay reasonable price to ship w/proper packaging. Anybody have anything laying around they need to offload?

Since you're upgrading from 2.73s' that means the car is an automatic. Why an upgrade to 3.42s' that would have been for 6-speeds instead of 3.23s' that would've been the performance gear for automatics ?

There is little to no reason to upgrade from 2.73's in an auto. A good stall converter will gain you WAY more than gears will.

Thanks for the input. I’ll def need to do some more research on this — I’ve never built or modified an automatic before. My buddy suggested throwing a shift kit in the tranny, but I’m not really familiar with stall converters...

A converter is not that hard to do, but if you've never torn into an auto trans before, I would avoid trying a shift kit yourself. Check out the auto trans section here, as there are a lot of knowledgeable members who could steer you in the right direction on transmission mods. I've been strictly a 6-speed manual guy for the last 20 years, so I wouldn't know any of the new and improved mods you could do to a 4L60-E.
